Sulafa is always curious about nontraditional, thread-like materials to use in her crochet practice, for example, fishing line. She began crocheting intuitively with this medium to see how it would function and realized it was quite challenging. The line unwound easily if she was not there to hold it tight. After this initial test, she decided to take images to explore the visual language of the shadow of such a finished outcome.
